One of the more famous war time gifts include the Norway Spruce Christmas Tree in Trafalgar Square while the Dutch people still present 10,000 tulip bulbs to Canada in recognition of the Canadian’s help in liberating the Netherlands from German rule during the 2nd world war.

 

Beware Of Greeks Bearing Gifts


In ancient times it was traditional for defeated generals to leave their horse as a sign that they had surrendered. As such, when the Trojans opened the gates and discovered a large wooden horse they didn’t suspect it to be a trap but a rather unique gift that was in keeping with the surrendered horse tradition. Unfortunately, of course, it was filled with Greek warriors who waited until night before defeating the Trojan army.
