Whilst surfing the internet looking for a way to monetise simple skills and talents online, we came across a website called Call It A Fiver, which is a platform for users to offer small or large scale services or products ranging from £5 to a £100.

The downside to a lot of sites like this is that you have to take a gamble on whether it's worth paying out to use them, well after registering and posting a service on the site we noticed that there is absolutely no listing fee, any product or service stays active until you decide to close it and the only time you are charged is when a sale is made (which is only 20% of the transaction amount, on a £5 sale that's only a £1!!!!).

Those that wish for their listings to stand out can opt for the Featured Item service which is currently charged at £9.99 for a 30 day period.

Trafalgar Square on a Sunday AfternoonImage by UGArdener via FlickrWar time gifts can be given either as a mark of gratitude for one nation’s help to another or they can be given to commemorate victory, the end of war, or the sacrifice of lives. One of the more famous war time gifts include the Norway Spruce Christmas Tree in Trafalgar Square while the Dutch people still present 10,000 tulip bulbs to Canada in recognition of the Canadian’s help in liberating the Netherlands from German rule during the 2nd world war.

Beware Of Greeks Bearing Gifts

In ancient times it was traditional for defeated generals to leave their horse as a sign that they had surrendered. As such, when the Trojans opened the gates and discovered a large wooden horse they didn’t suspect it to be a trap but a rather unique gift that was in keeping with the surrendered horse tradition. Unfortunately, of course, it was filled with Greek warriors who waited until night before defeating the Trojan army.

Take the Weight Out of Shipping Costs

Paquete22Image via WikipediaIn 2010 Disney Corporation (DIS) earned $6.73 billion dollars in gross revenue, an increase in total earnings from 2009. Disney is one of the top 100 companies in the United States and the world, so its shipping costs should be well managed. Typical U.S. businesses spend between 3 and 5 percent of their gross income on freight, according to Dan Goodwill and Associates (http://blogdg.ctl.ca/2010/02/facing_the_challenges_of_freig.html).

For companies of Disney’s size, the annual spend would fall between 200 and 330 million dollars, a sizeable sum and a large percentage of Disney’s $1.48 billion dollar operating costs.

The typical zombie.Image via WikipediaYou will most definitely have noticed the recent influx of games that have either been based around, or had crow-barred in the rotting corpses of the Undead. That’s right, I’m talking Zombies, everywhere you look, whether they are pushing prime time TV time, Nazi zombies, marvel zombies, the infected. It is interesting to see that after 30 years of classic George A Romero movies we are finally seeing games trickle down to capture that massively growing fan base that have been pining for each different aspect that the zombie film has thrown us since the beginning of time.

The first slow moving zombie game that had any real influence on society was of course, the original Resident Evil, with a lack of ammo, slow moving zombies and a real sense of ‘will I survive?’ This was a game changer for me; it took me from the Mario and Crash Bandicoot games to play to games really designed for with the adult gamer in mind.
